Season of Giving is a very special time of year at P1FCU. This is a time when we can spread joy throughout our communities and partner with community members in giving back to others.

On this week’s episode of Making Sense of Money, we had the opportunity to sit down with Carlo, the owner of Lewiston Grocery Outlet, and Jason, our Community Development Specialist, to discuss how community partnerships are helping to feed families this holiday season.

Neighbors Feeding Neighbors

Neighbors Feeding Neighbors is, at its core, all about helping those in need during the holidays. Community members can nominate people they know to receive a free turkey dinner, including sides and dessert.

Jason encourages everyone to nominate those they believe may be in need this season. It is a great way to give back to others and help those in the community.

People can nominate others by visiting our website, here. Paper forms are also available in branches. Nominations are open now until December 5th.

When the nominations close, the recipients will receive a phone call from one of our staff members to inform them that they will be getting a free turkey dinner for the holidays.

 A Partnership That Gives Back

Leading into this Season of Giving, Jason was aware of Grocery Outlet’s heart for serving the community through their social media pages. “I know how much he does for this community. So, we wanted Carlo to be a part of it,” he said.

After hearing about the opportunity to partner together, Carlo’s immediate answer was “yes.”  He shared that “Anytime a business connection reaches out and wants to make an impact together, it just makes sense to us. If we feed one extra kid, I think it’s a success.”

With rising prices, it can be hard for families to afford groceries, but Grocery Outlet’s mission to offer “bargain bliss” helps them save and stretch their budgets. Saving money on groceries also makes it easier for families to provide for their kids and enjoy the holiday season.

Through this partnership, Neighbors Feeding Neighbors will be able to provide a complete turkey dinner with all the sides and fixings. Partnering with Carlo and Grocery Outlet, the campaign will provide all the food needed for the Lewis-Clark Valley family from the store.
