Building Legacy Through Partnership: P1FCU & the University of Idaho

When it comes to meaningful partnerships, few stand out like the relationship between P1FCU and the University of Idaho. In the latest episode of the Making Sense of Money podcast, President Scott Green of the University of Idaho and Chris Loseth, President and CEO of P1FCU, reflect on how their shared values and deep roots in Idaho are creating something greater than just a sponsorship.

A Foundation Built on Shared Values

For President Green, the University of Idaho isn't just work, it's really personal. Green was born and raised in Moscow, "I kind of grew up with this as my backyard," he shared.

Chris echoed the sentiment that P1FCU had close connections to the Moscow Community. He said, "We've been in Idaho since 1938. "This community is where we came from, and it was time to give back." That mindset has shaped the P1FCU-University of Idaho partnership, which is designed to serve students, staff, alumni, and the broader community.

The BEAMS Program: Making Financial Literacy Accessible

One standout initiative born from this partnership is BEAMS, a financial education program designed to equip students with essential life skills. President Green emphasized that many students arrive and can graduate without taking a single finance class, and BEAMS is helping to close that gap.

Chris also highlighted how timely and relevant this education is, especially in today's digital world. "There's so much education students need that can't come through high school, things like fraud prevention, insurance, and understanding the cost of products and services."

A Marriage, Not a Transaction

Throughout the conversation, one theme stood out: mutual respect. "This partnership is like a marriage," President Green noted. "You're not just doing business, you're building trust and working through things together."

Chris agreed and shared how P1FCU has collaborated with multiple departments across campus, from athletics to administration. "Every conversation is about making things better for students and for the university as a whole."

Beyond the Dome: A Legacy That Lasts

While P1FCU's name is now displayed on the iconic P1FCU Kibbie Dome, the impact runs far deeper. "We're not just proud to have our name on a building," said Chris. “We're proud of what that name represents, our commitment to Idaho, to education, and to the future."

Both leaders agreed that their work today is about setting a foundation for tomorrow, whether through scholarships, financial education, or simply being present on campus. The real win for students and Vandal fans alike is simply showing what it means to truly be invested in the community.
