The holidays are one of the most fun times of the year, whether you like celebrating with family, eating yummy treats, or listening to holiday music. Although it may be fun, gift-giving can be very stressful, and we want to help you through it with some holiday season tips.
1. Create a Plan
The most important thing you can do when it comes to holiday shopping is creating a plan. Whether it's setting a spending limit or planning what gifts you will buy for each person. A plan is only as good as its execution, so be sure to track your spending and stick to this next rule!

2. Stop Shopping

Are you a victim of last-minute sales as crunch time approaches? If so, you're not alone; that's where many budgets are fiercely challenged. Do you have all your shopping taken care of? If so, you can save a great deal of money by simply not going shopping. It's extremely easy to see something that would be great for your mom, but you've already finished your plan for her. If you're nearing your budget limit, resist the urge to shop; you can save by avoiding impulse purchases.

3. Shop Smart

Is there a better feeling than walking through the store, looking for gifts, and you find the perfect item for a family member? We understand it's incredibly exhilarating, but refrain from making this purchase so quickly. Whether you write down the item name and go home or pull it up on your phone, doing your research can be helpful. Whether your research turns up positive feedback, negative reviews, or a better price, you will never regret looking. It can save you a great deal of money and peace of mind.

4. Plan Ahead

This advice may not be the most helpful right now, but it can help you start preparing for next year and create a holiday savings account for every year to come. November and December can be among the most stressful months because many tend to spend their extra money on gifts, leaving less for unexpected expenses like car repairs or medical care. A great solution to this is to set up a savings account that you contribute to each month of the year. It's much easier on a budget when you take 50 dollars from each paycheck and use that for that year's holidays instead of counting on spending a large portion of November's and December's income on gifts.

We all put so much pressure on ourselves during the holidays, whether it's living up to expectations, buying the right gifts, or having the best party. These may be important, but you can't let them dictate the holiday season. At the end of the day, what's the most important thing you can do during the holidays? Enjoy time with friends and family. We are thankful for your friendship and membership this holiday season.
